Strike that!

It will be interesting to see how many times I change my mind on curriculum.

Ok, new plan.  Keeping them together for history and read alouds.

Read Alouds:  The Story of the World: The Middle Ages
                        The Blue Fairy Book
                        Burgess Animal Book
                     * Castle (Macaulay)
                    ** Seabird
                  *** Cathedral (Macaulay)
..other literature I haven't decided on...

Audio Books: Our Island Story
                        Pilgrim's Progress
The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (Pyle)
                        Parables of Nature
                        Tales From Shakespeare

Read together with Savannah:      *The Wind in the Willows
                                                    **The Little Duke
                                                  ***Heidi

Savannah reads silently: Along Came a Dog
                                       The Story of Doctor Dolittle
                                       The Door in the Wall

Read together with Charlotte: Little House in the Big Woods
                                                 ?

Charlotte reads silently: not sure yet

  1. When you said you were going to be reading Heidi with Savannah, it brought back some really good memories. One summer when I was staying with my Granny, she read it to me! I think I was 7 or 8, the same age as Savannah. I haven't thought of that in years and years. Thanks for the memories!!!

  2. I am in the middle of the "Great Curriculum Re-Vamp",too! I can't say no to phonics road just yet, as I am sold out on the method for teaching spelling and reading, but I am going to re-think how it gets done in a day so we can move on to more reading aloud! I miss just hanging out learning with my kids, instead of plugging along with "school". Great blog...I will be back!
